How do I maintain an EXIT wooden playhouse?

At EXIT Toys we make our playhouses in such a way that little maintenance is needed. Still, you can do something to keep the wood beautiful for an extra long period of time. You can easily treat the EXIT playhouses yourself:

Proper protection

EXIT playhouses are made of cedar wood. Cedar wood has a natural resistance against weather influences like rain and wind. In addition, the wood has been treated with a natural, water-based stain. This protects the playhouse against wood rot and mould.

 

Extra convenient: the Loft and Crooky houses of EXIT Toys have a bitumen roof and this makes them waterproof. That way, wood rot doesn’t stand a chance at the inside of the playhouse. And kids can even shelter in the playhouse when its raining. So once the playhouse is built up kids can immediately play safe inside the house: time to gather up their friends!

Treating the wood

At EXIT Toys we do advise treating the playhouse with a new coat of stain every two years. By staining the wood, you protect it against wear and tear, dirt and moist. Use a water-based stain or paint on a natural basis for this. The EXIT playhouse will look brand-new again and will last for years.

Still see some dark spots?

Are you still seeing dark, wet spots on the wood? Prevent wood rot by removing these so-called weather spots from the roof with a dry cloth. A bit of green soap can also help in this.

Safety first

Furthermore, always keep checking the safety of your playhouse. Are the bolts and nuts still secure? Is the house still standing firmly? In addition, check the wood for splinters.
